Reports
Producing a board-ready PDF, scoping it, and writing the commentary.
A report is a view of the current register and the current simulation, arranged for someone who will not open the product. It is generated fresh every time from live data, so the number in the PDF is the number on the screen at the moment you exported it.
Cost and schedule reports
The Reports page offers two reports, switched with the toggle at the top left:
- Cost risk report. The confidence curve, the confidence levels, the top exposures ranked by sensitivity, the breakdown by WBS and by allocation, and a commentary paragraph. Built from the QCRA simulation.
- Schedule risk report. The pre- and post-mitigation confidence curve for the finish date and the P-level finish dates, built from the latest QSRA run against the selected schedule version. Only offered when you can view the schedule and a schedule version exists.
Your choice, and the scope below, is written into the page address. That is deliberate: a report that can only be reproduced by remembering which buttons were pressed is not a report. Bookmark the address or paste it to a colleague and they see exactly the same view.
Scoping a cost report
The cost report can be scoped to one party using the selector next to the report toggle:
- All risks: the whole register.
- Client: risks allocated to Project or Programme.
- Contractor: risks allocated to Contractor.
- Unallocated: risks with no recognised allocation.
The grouping is the same one used by the register filter and the split above the register table (see Allocation), so the client-only figure in a monthly report matches the client-only view on screen. A scoped report re-runs the simulation on the scoped subset rather than filtering the rows of the full run, because risk cost does not subtract cleanly: the P80 of the client’s risks is not the client’s share of the portfolio P80.
Note
Commentary
The cost report includes a commentary paragraph generated from the simulation run: the headline confidence figures, the drivers and the movement. It is a starting point, not the final word. Choose Edit, change the text, and Save. The saved text goes into the PDF in place of the generated paragraph; Reset to generated puts the original back.
Editing is deliberate rather than live: a stray keystroke should not silently change what a board reads, so nothing is committed until you save. Your edit lives in this browser tab for this export. It is not stored against the project, because commentary written for one month’s figures should not reappear against the next month’s.
Exporting the PDF
Export PDF at the top right generates the document on the server from the same data and the same scope as the page, including any commentary you have saved. The file downloads directly; nothing is emailed and nothing is retained on our side after it is produced.
The PDF carries the confidence curve, the confidence table, the top exposures, the WBS and allocation breakdowns and the commentary, with the project name, the scope and the generation time on the front so a reader knows which run they are looking at.
